Voter registration deadline Saturday

Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said in a statement that the deadline is actually October 3, but that falls on a Sunday and county offices are usually closed. However, state law requires circuit clerks’ offices to be open 8 a.m. until noon on the Saturday before the deadline.

Eligible military and overseas voters have an extended deadline for voter registration, until Oct. 23.

Voters who want to register by mail must have their applications postmarked by Saturday, October 2. Mail-in registration forms are available at circuit clerks’ offices and on the secretary of state’s website at http://www.sos.ms.gov.
