Nunnelee and Childers stop off in Desoto

Both candidates for Mississippi’s 1st District congressional seat were in DeSoto County on Monday, one being honored for receiving a small-business award and the other speaking to a civic group.

State Sen. Alan Nunnelee, the Republican challenger in November’s closely watched general election, hit on familiar campaign themes in an appearance before the Olive Branch Lion’s Club on Monday evening.

“Can you honestly look at the record of this Congress over the past 20 months and say ‘good job’?” asked Nunnelee, of Tupelo.
