Varnado debuts for Heat summer team
Former Mississippi State center Jarvis Varnado played in the Miami Heat’s NBA Summer League opening game Sunday night in Las Vegas. Here’s the box score. He didn’t start, but scored six points, blocked two shots and grabbed three rebounds in 18 minutes and 58 seconds of play. He had six fouls in that time, too.
This appears to be his NBA.com player page. Might be worth a bookmark if you’re thinking about following him through the summer league.
This story by Michael Wallace of the Miami Herald says that the Heat could bring back “as many as five” players from its summer roster. (You’ll remember Wallace, who bridged the gap between Ian Rapoport and me on this beat in 2006. Mike is a good friend and was a mentor of sorts to me in college.)
