CL – Fewer than 5% voted Tuesday
Fewer than 5 percent of voters in Mississippi came out to the polls for Republican primaries in the 1st, 2nd and 4th congressional districts and a Democratic primary in the 3rd District, based on unofficial returns.
About 78,762 votes were cast statewide Tuesday, the returns show.
Mississippi has 1.8 million registered voters, according to the secretary of state’s office.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann expects official counts by Friday.
“We were hopeful that more voters would honor a vet and come out to vote,” Hosemann said Wednesday.
