Reaction to casino mixed – Pickering calls for meeting
LAUREL — The possibility of a casino being constructed in or around Sandersville was the talk of the town Wednesday.
It has been rumored that the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will soon construct a casino near the town of Sandersville in Jones County. There were even reports of representatives from the reservation coming to the city to talk to landowners about their property.
“I started receiving phone calls from my neighbors in Jones County about possible survey crews being in the area,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering who resides in Laurel. “I received my first call concerning this matter at the end of last week.
