Bless Jere’s heart – he must be taking yoga classes

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 9, 2010

Jere Nash had an odd post poking fun at Angela McGlowan’s assertion that Rep. Travis Childers was an “entrenched, incumbent career politician.” He stated . . .

Well, let’s think about this for a minute. Of the three Republicans and one Democrat who have announced for the First District seat, the only “entrenched, incumbent career politician” is Alan Nunnelee, who has served in the state legislature for 15 years.

Jere must have been taking yoga classes in order to increase his ability contort the facts so greatly to his favor.

In fact, Travis Childers would seem to be the most entrenched career politician of the group. According to Wikipedia, he was elected to the Prentiss County Chancery Clerk’s office in 1991 and was reelected 5 times. My calculations say that he had been entrenched 17 years in elective politics, which is two more years of entrenchment than Mr. Nash alleges of Senator Nunnelee.
