Cochran to support Bernanke for Fed
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will get a “yes” vote from Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran when his re-nomination comes up as expected Friday.
“I support him,” Cochran told the Daily Journal today. “He will bring stability and a feeling of comfort to people who watch the financial markets.”
The Oxford senator, a Republican, said these markets don’t like instability and uncertainty, so to keep Bernanke is a good thing.
“I think he’s the best person – I can’t think of anybody better,” Cochran added.
His junior colleague, Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Tupelo, reports he will vote “no” on Bernanke.
