Mississippi Senate OKs more cutting power for Barbour
Under the measure, the cutting powers of the executive branch would recoil to the 5 percent cutting power now afforded Barbour under the law after adjournment of the regular session.
Senators moved the bill to the House on a 29 to 19 vote.
“If he does some things that we don’t want to do we’ll have some oversight,” said Sen. Jack Gordon, D-Okolona, who sponsored the amendment tacking the timeline onto the bill.
