And of course the 2008 GOP primary in MS-01 was as bloody as you can get, leaving about half the GOP voters angry- a wound that never healed as Travis Childers went on to win.
Leading into this race, I am sure the Republicans had two things they wanted to avoid. The first was a leading candidate from Desoto County. They got that when state Sen. Merle Flowers (R-Southaven) decided not to enter the race. Now, they want to avoid a primary battle like what we saw in 2008. I wouldn’t call the primary a battle yet, but it could be.
