Scarbinsky: McElwain’s a head coach in waiting, but where?

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.

Who’s it going to be?
Kirby Smart? Jim McElwain?
A protege to be named and groomed later?
Who’s going to be the first assistant coach under Nick Saban at Alabama to leave to become a head coach?
It’s bound to happen. Championship teams attract wannabes who like to break off a piece of that success and duplicate it, and Saban preps his assistants to run a program as well as anyone in the college game.
