Jailer wonders what Balducci’s new label means

The Monroe County jail administrator says he’s waiting to hear from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons about what “not in BOP custody” means for prisoner Timothy Balducci.

The former New Albany attorney officially was listed as out of BOP custody more than a week ago, but he’s still in the Aberdeen jail serving time for his attempted bribery of Circuit Judge Henry Lackey of Calhoun City.

“He’s right back there in a cell,” Jail Administrator Danny Starks said last week.

Last spring, Balducci began his two-year sentence in an Estill, S.C., facility, then was moved to Monroe County Jail as prosecutors made plans to prosecute then-Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter and possibly others in another judicial bribery case.
