Saban says his favored Tide won’t buy into title game ‘clutter’

On a night when a little hardware was handed out at the Alabama football team’s postseason awards banquet, bigger pieces of hardware were the talk of college football.
The biggest: Alabama (13-0) and Texas (13-0) officially will battle for the crystal tro­phy that goes to the national champion.
As expected, the two traditional powers are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the final Bowl Championship Series standings. They will meet on Jan. 7 in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
