Advance Mississippi Releases Issue Brief on Nuclear Energy

JACKSON – Today, Advance Mississippi released its latest issue brief, which provides an in-depth look at nuclear energy.

The brief, entitled “Nuclear Energy: An Overview,” reports on the current state of nuclear energy and discussed the economic and environmental benefits of the power source. The brief also gives an overview of Mississippi’s only source of nuclear energy, Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station, near Port Gibson, and discusses the potential for reprocessing spent fuel.

“Nuclear energy is an extremely important source of base load power. It provides a stable supply of clean, low-cost electricity in Mississippi and around the world,” said Advance Mississippi Chairman Glenn McCullough, Jr. “This issue brief provides a thorough look at what must be an important part of all energy policy moving forward.”
