Hundreds attend Tea Party healthcare forum

Following the U.S. House’s narrow passage of the hotly debated healthcare bill, the Mississippi Tea Party gathered Sunday in Brandon.

More than 500 people listened as area doctors spoke out against the bill’s passage and the Obama administration during a health care forum.

It was held at the Rankin County Pavilion.

The physicians said the plan will diminish the level of medical care and add to the deficit.

Third district Congressman Gregg Harper and Lt. Governor Phil Bryant attended the event.

“If the problem was taking care of perhaps as the president said 30 million people who didn’t have insurance coverage well why wouldn’t we just attack the 30 million people? Instead we’re taking over the entire healthcare system,” said Harper.
