Gene Chizik chooses words carefully when talking about officials

While two SEC coaches were reprimanded for comments critical of the league’s officials this week, Auburn head coach Gene Chizik has approached any talk of officiating with the utmost caution.

When reporters sought clarification about a couple of penalties from Saturday’s game — including a defensive delay of game penalty called on the Auburn sideline — Chizik deflected comment.

“Officials do a good job and they do the best they can do,” he said.
