Q&A with ESPN’s BCS analyst Brad Edwards

Brad Edwards’ life is about to center around computers and polls. The beauty pagent portion of the college football season officially starts Sunday when the first Bowl Championship Series standings are released. I talked with Brad, who analyzes the BCS for ESPN, for a preliminary look at what we might expect from the BCS this season.
Q: Does a BCS analyst get fired up this time of year?

“I’ll tell you what. After last Saturday, this season almost has — it’s probably a bad word to use — but an empty feeling. It doesn’t have a feeling to it that it’s going to be as interesting as the past few have been. And I fully realize that anything can happen to turn things upside down on a given Saturday, and there certainly have been upsets in the last few years of teams that have been favored by more points than Alabama and Florida will be.
