At Auburn, when it rains, offense soars
AUBURN — It was raining; it was pouring, and somewhere an old man may even have been snoring.
And why not? This was not a game of which much was expected. Auburn was 3-0 while Ball State was 0-3, having lost to North Texas, which lost to Alabama last week 53-7.
Of course, extrapolating scores is a dangerous game — almost as dangerous as Ball State seemed to be in the first 13 minutes against Auburn Saturday night, taking advantage of an Auburn fumbled punt to jump out to a quick 7-0 lead.
