Mississippi Steps: Proposed $43M program could create 4,800 jobs
Mississippi’s businesses could get a work force boost beginning Oct. 1 from a proposed $43 million program that could create 4,800 jobs.
State leaders announced the Mississippi Steps plan Tuesday during Gov. Haley Barbour’s Small Business Forum that drew dozens of people to the Jackson Convention Complex.
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security said it hopes to get approval to to use federal stimulus money to implement the program that would allow employers to be reimbursed for the wages and benefits it provides to new hires.
