SH – Lawmakers were paid $12.9M in 13 months
Mississippi lawmakers’ salaries and other compensation added up to $12.9 million for a 13-month period ending in June, according to a report State Auditor Stacey Pickering released Friday.
Lawmakers took home about $8.8 million in salaries, mileage and per diem. The report also shows a total of $4 million in fringe benefits for both chambers. Of the $8.8 million, lawmakers received about $4.2 million in mileage, per diem and compensation and about $4.6 million in salaries.
The total legislative expense, which includes the salaries of legislators, employees and pages and well as the cost of supplies and other expenses, was about $21.8 million, the report said.
