HOOVER, Ala. — While you’ll find it tough to convince anyone in this neck of the woods that there is a college football conference tougher than the Southeastern, the league may have offered its best evidence Wednesday.
Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Arkansas — the first four teams to appear at the SEC’s Media Days — may have been considered the also-rans in the conference at times.
But each is good enough to compete against national title contenders. UK almost beat Florida two years ago, Vandy has taken the Gators to overtime while Starkville has been a nightmare for past UF teams.
