Jurors in DeLaughter’s trial to come from north MS

U.S. District Judge Glenn Davidson agreed potential jurors in the upcoming trial of Hinds County Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter will be from all north Mississippi counties.

Davidson also will allow a jury questionnaire to be sent out to potential jurors, however it “will be substantially less burdensome than that proposed by (DeLaughter),” Davidson wrote in an order filed today.

He has not ruled on several other motions filed by DeLaughter’s attorney, but said “time is of the essence” regarding jurors’ questions.

DeLaughter is accused by federal prosecutors of unfairly ruling in favor of then-lawyer Dickie Scruggs for the possibility of a federal judgeship appointment.
