Freeman denies crash allegations
Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman says the female passenger with him the night he wrecked last August in Tallahatchie County was “comparatively negligent” in the crash.
Freeman, 71, responded Friday to a federal lawsuit filed by the passenger, Demaris Meyer of Memphis.
His attorney, Jack Hayes Jr., would not give specifics regarding Meyer’s alleged involvement in the wreck but says Freeman’s celebrity figures in the suit.
“It’s an accident and a one-car wreck case,” Hayes said in a telephone interview. “But for the fact of who he is, we wouldn’t be talking right now.”
The facts will “show that (Meyer) was comparatively negligent,” Hayes said.
