Fedex spends $90,000 on Trent Lott lobbying
Six public entities in Memphis and Shelby County spent $194,000 on Washington- or Florida-based lobbyists in the first three months of this year, according a required disclosures filed with Congress.
But they were far outspent by Memphis-based FedEx, which paid out more than $2.3 million in the first quarter, including $90,000 on the lobbying operation created by former Sen. Trent Lott of Mississippi after he left the Senate.
Much of the FedEx spending went to lobbying involving the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act and its provision that would make it easier for FedEx workers to be organized by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
