Richt ‘not thrilled’ over nonconference slate

It’s a football schedule that certainly is appealing to TV network executives. Not so much for the coach who will have to live through it.

Georgia’s nonconference games in 2009 include a road date at what’s likely to be top-10 Oklahoma State, a matchup with Arizona State and the annual tilt with Georgia Tech.
“I could reduce that a little bit,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “The league’s tough enough as it is.”
Of the 65 teams in the six Bowl Championship Series conferences – the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-10 and Southeastern Conference – only two besides Georgia will play three nonconference games this season against teams from BCS conferences.
