Cook: Money is no object in SEC, Kiffin’s mouth is
Money is on everyone’s mind these days. How can we save a little bit here and there so that the big picture is a little brighter? It is the same way in college athletics. Everybody is looking for a way to cut expenses.
Three schools in the Big Ten just announced a cut that has been coming. Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin announced they would no longer print media guides for their sports teams. The schools believe they will save around $250,000 a year by eliminating media guides.
The college football media guide has been a target for several years. First the NCAA put limits on the size of the guides because they were becoming lavish recruiting tools. Cutting down on the size of the media guides saved money. Eliminating them altogether will save even more.
