Jury questionnaire requested in Warr Katrina-fraud case
Mayor Brent Warr wants questionnaires mailed to prospective jurors in the Katrina-fraud case against him and his wife, Laura.
Warr’s attorney, Joe Sam Owen, filed the request in U.S. District Court. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, which is prosecuting the Warrs on 16 charges, promptly filed a response that opposes the questionnaire.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Annette Williams said Warr offered no reason for requesting the questionnaire. Her response also said, “The preferred method and more cost effective method of jury selection is face to face in the courtroom.”
