CL – Scruggs departure signs of completed grand jury testimony, Freeland linked to Blake too

Imprisoned former lawyer Dickie Scruggs is no longer being housed in the county jail in Oxford.

Scruggs was scheduled to return to federal prison in Ashland, Ky.

He had been at the Lafayette County Detention Center since pleading guilty in early February to a second bribery-related scheme.

Getting moved back to Kentucky is a sign Scruggs has completed his testimony before the grand jury, which has been investigating Birmingham businessman P.L. Blake.

Blake is being represented by Oxford lawyers Buck Buchanan and Tom Freeland as well as Birmingham lawyers Doug Jones and Kirk Wood. Buchanan and Jones are both former U.S. attorneys.
