3 state schools get APR penalties
OXFORD — As expected, the Ole Miss football program will lose three scholarships after receiving low marks on the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate report, which was released on Wednesday afternoon.
But UM athletic director Pete Boone said he expected the scholarship penalty to be a one-year aberration and that second-year coach Houston Nutt has turned around the program’s attitude toward academics.
“He’s building a culture of studying, discipline and good habits,” Boone said.
