Expansion from 11 to 12 teams in the Big Ten Conference is a move that Penn State coach Joe Paterno says would help level the playing field in college football (ESPN.com.)
This is nothing new (USA Today) and Paterno is right. Specifically and particularly because unlike some other major conferences such as the SEC and the Pac-10, the Big Ten doesn’t have a conference championship and the Big Ten season ends six weeks before the other conferences.
