Southaven officials fed up with lawsuits
SOUTHAVEN – Southaven officials say they are ready to put their feet down.
“There comes a point in time when someone has to say enough is enough, and this fits the mold,” Mayor Greg Davis said about a federal lawsuit recently filed against the city, its police department, police chief and an officer.
He said the $6 million lawsuit, which claims officer Lance Sheppard hit and pepper-sprayed Chandra McKinney without cause during a traffic stop in March 2006, is frivolous as the complainant was arrested for assaulting the officer and later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
