Mayoral candidate profile: Eddie Fair

Hinds County Tax Collector Eddie Fair is pitching himself as a “man of the people.”

He recounts stories of his youth picking cotton with his sharecropper parents and being the first in his family to graduate from high school. His campaign signs around town quote his aunt, civil rights icon Fannie Lou Hamer, as being “sick and tired of being sick and tired.”

Fair’s supporters say he has reached out to inner city and poor people throughout the campaign and has not sought large donations from upperclass business people in northeast Jackson.
