TV money arrives just in time for Kentucky, Calipari

The Southeastern Conference’s lucrative new TV contracts with CBS and ESPN kick in next season, and the timing couldn’t be more opportune for the University of Kentucky, which last week made John Calipari the highest-paid college basketball coach in the country.
The Wildcats will use some of the additional TV revenue to pay Calipari, who signed an eight-year deal worth a guaranteed $31.65 million. At nearly $4 million a year, Calipari’s deal eclipses the $3.5 million a year Billy Donovan makes at Florida and puts the new UK coach on par with Alabama football coach Nick Saban.
