Hood: BB shots in La., .50 caliber in Miss.

The fight wages on for Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, who is trying to obtain Entergy Mississippi’s fuel purchasing records.

Hood claims Entergy has overcharged rate payers by millions. But his case may have taken a hit with a state supreme court ruling in Louisiana.

“It upholds what we’ve said all along,” said Mara Hartmann, Entergy Mississippi spokesperson.

Late last week, the Louisiana Supreme Court overturned a ruling from an appeals court to charge Entergy of New Orleans nearly $35 million. Instead it sided with the city’s power regulators, the New Orleans City Council, and the significance? It depends on who you ask.

“The attorney general has often cited this case as the basis for his lawsuit against Entergy,” said Hartmann.

“They are trying to spin it like it was a change and it didn’t have anything in the world to do with it,” said Hood.

Hood says his lawsuit will go forward as he tries to prove Entergy Mississippi purchased fuel at low prices then turned around and charged customers a higher rate.

“What they were doing in Louisiana was just a b-b shot and ours has several bullets coming out of a 50 caliber because we already have the evidence on them,” said Hood.
