When Nick Saban began his first spring practice at Alabama two years ago, the news coverage was reminiscent of a coronation of a pope.
Insanity doesn’t begin to describe the scene as the great coach stepped on the practice field for the first time. It wasn’t long afterward when a couple from north Alabama named their newborn after Saban.
Today, Gene Chizik begins his first spring practice on the Plains and you could almost hear a pin drop. Oh really, most fans have said, as they covered their mouths to yawn.
