MACON BEACON – Brown will try again Saturday
Ike Brown isn’t done with his quest to get back on the State Democratic Executive Committee.
Brown, a longtime state Executive Committee, was ousted last year but has some support from several committee members as he tries to regain the seat on the committee.
The State Committee met two weeks ago and discussed two potential committee vacancies from the Third Congressional District, but before Brown could be nominated the committee decided against declaring the seats open, including one held by Meridian attorney Bill Ready.
Now there’s news that some of Brown’s supporters have been successful in getting the State Committee back together this Saturday for an “emergency” meeting in Jackson.
Brown is facing considerable opposition to being reappointed to the committee and that opposition has grown stronger following the recent decision by the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreeing with all the judge’s rulings in the historic voting rights case.
