Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin shaking up the status quo

While it remains to be seen what kind of impact Lane Kiffin will make at Tennessee on the field, it hasn’t taken long for the Vols new coach to shake things up off the field. Here’s a look at some of the ways:

•Salaries: Kiffin took a lower salary for himself and assembled the highest-paid staff in college football at more than $3.3 million. He hired his dad Monte away from the Tampa Bay Bucs for $2 million per year. He targeted assistants from other SEC schools, either raiding direct competitors of some of their top recruiters or forcing those schools to give raises to keep talented assistants.
