COCHRAN NAMED TO NEGOTIATING PANEL

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 11, 2009

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, 2/11/9

Mississippi Republican Sen. Thad Cochran, the ranking Appropriations Committee member, was one of nine men named Tuesday to a House-Senate conference committee to negotiate differences in the economic stimulus package.

Cochran voted against the bill that passed the Senate on Tuesday, as did Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss.

“The bill voted on today unfortunately misses the mark. This plan fails American taxpayers by spending money we do not have on things that will not create jobs quickly,” Wicker said in a news release.

Other members of the conference committee are Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, ranking member of Finance, plus Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, Appropriations chair, and Max Baucus, D-Mont., Finance chair.
