Florida quarterback Tim Tebow underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Monday morning to remove a bone spur and chronic inflammation.
Tebow, who led Florida to the BCS national title on Thursday with a 24-14 win over Oklahoma, is expected to be able to throw within 3-4 weeks and is expected to be ready to play in spring practice.
Tebow is left-handed, so the surgery is on his non-throwing shoulder.
“The surgery went well,” team physician Dr. Pete Indelicato said in a Florida news release. “He should be able to begin throwing in the next three to four weeks and a full recovery is expected.”
Tebow was originally injured during the 2007 season, and reaggravated the injury this season against Hawaii.
Tebow announced Sunday at a rally that he plans to return to Florida for his senior season in 2009.
