Jackson Mayor Frank Melton was hospitalized over the weekend for the third time since November.
Melton, who has been diagnosed with end-stage cardiomyopathy, checked himself into St. Dominic Hospital on Saturday and remained there Sunday, city spokeswoman Goldia Revies said.
Revies would not give specifics about the mayor’s condition or the reason for his most recent hospital visit.
He previously was admitted to St. Dominic on Dec. 22 for reasons connected to his heart failure. In November he had surgery to deal with blood clots in his legs
“The number one thing that people should do is pray for the full and speedy recovery of the mayor,” Melton’s attorney, John Reeves, said Sunday. “No matter what you think of him, we should still hope and pray for his good health.”
