Head to head: Richt needs to reverse the momentum

Which coach most needs a bowl win — Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops or Georgia’s Mark Richt? Sporting News college football experts Dave Curtis and Matt Hayes go head to head on that topic: Curtis says Richt, who needs to end the Bulldogs’ slide; Hayes says Stoops, who’s in danger of losing his rep.

Georgia started the season No. 1 in the national polls. It will leave December as the No. 2 program in its state. And in the slide, Mark Richt has lost his edge.
He watched Florida blast his Bulldogs again and climb to another national championship game, a place he’s never visited as a head coach. He lost to Georgia Tech for the first time in eight games, giving ground to Flavor of the Year Paul Johnson.
His talent-heavy defense allowed 25.6 points per game, leaving fans questioning defensive coordinator Willie Martinez’s leadership. His talent-heavy offense no-showed against Florida and Alabama, and it might lose quarterback Matthew Stafford and tailback Knowshon Moreno early to the NFL.
