Mullen to leave for Miss. State; BCS role unclear
LAKE BUENA VISTA – It’s unclear whether Dan Mullen, who accepted the Mississippi State head coaching job on Wednesday, will resume his position as the Florida Gators offensive coordinator for the Jan. 8 national championship against Oklahoma.
Florida Coach Urban Meyer said Mullen’s move “complicates things” on that front. “I can’t speak on that right now, it’s all too fresh,” said Meyer from a pre-bowl news conference in South Florida.
Mullen replaces Sylvester Croom, the Southeastern Conference’s first African-American coach who resigned after five season. The Bulldogs went 4-8 this season, a year after Croom won SEC Coach of the year.
