Plenty of Reasons to Give Thanks This Year

Another Thanksgiving prompts another roll call of those to be thankful for in sports’ little corner of the world:
Michael Phelps, for sharing the wealth of his record eight Olympic gold medals. He and Bob Bowman, his longtime coach, signed a long-term lease and operational license to instruct youngsters in recreational and competitive swimming at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, where Phelps began training at 11 under Bowman.
Myron Rolle, the Florida State safety, perhaps the most prominent student-athlete to be awarded a Rhodes scholarship since Bill Bradley played basketball at Princeton in 1965.
