The city of Jackson will take over the public transit service in December.
Negotiations with a company to manage JATRAN bus service fell through. The city council is meeting this afternoon to discuss the bus service.
Texas-based McDonald Transit Associates Inc. has run JATRAN for several years on a month-to-month contract while the city worked to sign on Professional Transit Management.
