Barring some strange occurrences, the title game of the Bowl Championship Series will feature opponents from the Southeastern Conference, the Big Twelve Conference, or both.
This week’s BCS standings find two contenders from the SEC in top-ranked Alabama and fourth-ranked Florida, and three from the Big Twelve in second-ranked Texas Tech, third-ranked Texas, and fifth-ranked Oklahoma.
The SEC teams are home today, the Crimson Tide against Mississippi State and the Gators against South Carolina. Texas is in action at Kansas, while Texas Tech and Oklahoma have the week off.
Time to ponder
The Red Raiders and Sooners are heading into next Saturday’s showdown in Norman.
