A Rasmussen Reports poll released this week indicates Republican Sen. Roger Wicker has an 11-point lead over his Democratic challenger, former governor Ronnie Musgrove, 54% to 43%.
The two are vying to serve out the unexpired term of Trent Lott, who resigned in 2007. Wicker was appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour to serve until the special election could be held.
At the end of September, the same poll had Wicker leading by a slim 49% to 47% margin.
