A group of local investors plans to start construction on an entertainment district on Farish Street as soon as next week following a vote Wednesday that cleared the way for local control over the project.
The Jackson Redevelopment Authority’s board unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding to allow the local group to buy the Farish Street lease from Memphis-based Performa Entertainment Real Estate.
Control will not officially be transferred until later this year when the authority signs off on the new lease.
