Wicker thanks volunteers in Tupelo
Supporters spent roughly one hour shivering in the shade to hear Wicker speak. When he did, the Republican candidate reminded them that he’s pro-life, pro-gun and supports lower taxes. He also denied recent polls showing him with a strong lead over his opponent, former Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, a Democrat.
“It’s a very close race,” Wicker said, adding that he would win. “And not because of the $20 million spent by both sides on television commercials … . We’ll win it because of the volunteers.”
Those volunteers are the reason Wicker organized the Tupelo rally, the candidate told the Daily Journal just moments before it kicked off.
