Mississippi business leaders and lawmakers will meet this week to discuss the state’s role in energy production.

Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, the Mississippi Manufacturers Association and the Mississippi Economic Council are hosting the privately-funded Energy Summit Wednesday. It begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center at Hinds Community College in Raymond.

The one-day summit will focus primarily on the state’s diversity in energy production. Alternative fuel research and the economic impact of advanced energy sources will also be discussed.

“We want to educate businesses and consumers on our state’s natural resources for producing energy,” Bryant said. “With the rising energy cost, it is important to discuss how Mississippi can lead the Southeast in increasing our energy supply.”
