Borges, Cosgrove make most of time
Some coaching buzz in the wake of Tommy Bowden’s dismissal at Clemson:
• Out of work doesn’t mean out of the loop for Kevin Cosgrove and Al Borges.
The former coordinators have devoted themselves to studying the game they love, looking to become better craftsmen when they get their next job – which figures to be prior to next season.
“It has been great,” says Borges, who was offensive coordinator at Auburn from 2004-07. “I have gone and studied with college teams and with NFL teams.”
Cosgrove likes to think of his time away from coaching as a sabbatical.
“You never really get a chance to fully study and absorb some of the things you learn from other staffs when you’re coaching full-time,” says Cosgrove, who was defensive coordinator at Nebraska from 2004-07. “You are so busy doing your job. This has been a chance to really study my philosophies and afforded me the chance to become better at what I do.”
