Franklin’s firing leaves unanswered questions

Franklin’s firing leaves unanswered questions

At least now Tony Franklin has an epilogue to add to his rare, out-of-print 2001 book “Fourth Down and Life to Go.”
The chapter might be entitled “Three and Out: My Life and Times as Auburn’s Offensive Coordinator.”
And now Tigers head coach Tommy Tuberville can get to work on his self-help book: “How to Play SEC Football Without an Offensive Coordinator (Even Though We Have Two on the Payroll).”

Both ideas got the full go-ahead Wednesday afternoon. One day after expressing unconditional support for Franklin and his spread attack, Tuberville gave the offensive coordinator his unconditional release with half of the season left to play.

Franklin joins Al Borges – the man he replaced last December – on the paid-not-to-call-plays list.
